About the BID

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

We identify economic opportunities, strengthens existing businesses, recruits new ones, attracts new uses to the district, helps revitalize unused space, monitors economic progress and cultivates the entrepreneurial spirit.

DESIGN

We are responsible for any activity or effort that improves the appearance and enhances the overall image and condition of the Downtown. This includes the facades of buildings, streetscape projects, upper level housing and signage.

PROMOTION

We promote the District’s unique characteristics to shoppers, investors, new businesses and visitors by an effective program that forges image through advertising, events and marketing campaigns.

Scarecrows Downtown 2025

Calling all Businesses, Agencies, Organizations, and Families!

Registration can be emailed to Director@DowntownBataviaNY.com, or mailed to the B.I.D. office: 200 East Main St, Suite 12, Batavia, NY 14020.

Participants are asked to pick up scarecrow supplies TUESDAY Thru THURSDAY September 16th – 18th, 3:30-5:30pm in Jackson Square or email for arrangements.

All participants will be given a wooden post, straw and twine to begin your scarecrow. Participants will receive an assigned pole Downtown for your scarecrow.

Scarecrows can be put up during the week of September 29th and no later than FRIDAY October 3rd.

Scarecrows will need to be removed by SUNDAY November 2nd.

The Public will be asked to vote on Best Scarecrow via the BID’s Facebook. Contest Winners to receive cash prizes for “Most Creative”.
